Situation

Environmental Graphics began in 1969 as a poster company but due to its unique innovations in printing techniques, the company began making photo murals and has now been the leader in manufacturing wall murals for more than 35 years. In 2002, Environmental Graphics developed the Murals Your Way concept, providing personalized and custom wall murals. After the launch of a new Website, Murals Your Way began advertising online via a pay per click campaign. However, with high click and conversion costs, the need for a search engine optimization strategy became evident. Environmental Graphics collaborated with TMA E-Marketing to search engine optimize its Website in an effort to lower online advertising costs and increase visibility in major search engines.

Solution

To improve organic search engine visibility and create a stronger online presence for MuralsYourWay.com, TMA E-Marketing implemented the following search engine optimization (SEO) and online marketing strategies:

  • Developed a custom online marketing and search engine optimization strategy based on Murals Your Way’s unique objectives
  • Performed an initial site audit to understand the issues the site and company were facing
  • Determined key pages to optimize first
  • Performed extensive keyword research to identify relevant keywords for which to optimize
  • Made recommendations to the site’s architecture to ensure the most important pages would receive optimal internal link popularity
  • Re-wrote and provided new, optimized copy for key pages within the site to increase keyword density
  • Provided new, unique Title and Meta tags with relevant keyword phrases for each page
  • Suggested keyword rich URLs for internal pages
  • Wrote and promoted search engine optimized press releases to increase visibility and external inbound links (off-site SEO)

In addition to the above SEO tactics, TMA E-Marketing took over managing the Murals Your Way PPC campaigns, optimizing them for key search terms. The combination of SEO and a well managed PPC campaign proved to be the most cost effective solution.

Results

Within the first month, Murals Your Way experienced a significant improvement in its organic visibility with a total rankings increase of 239 percent, going from 28 search engine listings in the first 3 pages of results in July of 2005 to 95 in August. The company’s organic visibility continued to improve with a total rankings increase of 543 percent after six months, reaching 180 listings in the first 30 positions in January of 2006, with 21 listings in the first position.

Over the last three and a half years as TMA E-Marketing has provided Murals Your Way with search engine optimization and online marketing, the company’s organic visibility continued to increase steadily. In November of 2008, Murals Your Way had 85 listings in the first position with 289 organic listings in the top 30 positions, a total organic visibility increase of 932 percent.
